About AVIF to PDF conversion

AVIF (AV1 Image File Format) is a modern image format introduced in 2019 by the Alliance for Open Media. It uses the AV1 video codec to compress images at roughly half the size of WEBP and up to 70 percent smaller than JPEG — the most efficient modern image format for web delivery.

PDF (Portable Document Format) was created by Adobe in 1993 and is the universal document format. Every operating system, printer, and document management system accepts PDF. PDFs preserve layout and images exactly as designed.

Why Convert AVIF to PDF?

AVIF is a web-only format. No office suite, email client, or document portal accepts AVIF. When you need to deliver an AVIF image in a document form — reports, submissions, formal correspondence — converting to PDF makes it usable in every document workflow.

AVIF's Compatibility Problem

Even on the desktop, AVIF support is limited. Adobe Photoshop versions before 23.2 cannot open AVIF. Most office software rejects AVIF. If you downloaded an AVIF from a modern website and need to include it in a document, PDF conversion is the practical solution.

Quality

The AVIF is embedded into the PDF at its original resolution. No additional compression is applied. Since AVIF is usually lossy, any compression already present in the source is preserved — no new degradation occurs.

Transparency in AVIF

AVIF supports transparency. PDF does not. Transparent areas become solid white in the resulting PDF.

Files are processed securely and automatically deleted after 1 hour. No signup required.

AVIF uses lossy compression; PDF uses lossless. Converting won't restore lost detail, but it prevents further quality degradation during editing and archiving.
